Did you ever think about God’s first recorded words?
And God said, “Let there be Light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. Genesis 1:3-4
These are words for us to live by and the one and only Light to live by is Jesus Christ.
So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and total darkness covered all Egypt for three days. No one could see anyone else or leave his place for three days. Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived. Exodus 10:22-23
By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so they could travel by day or night. Neither the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people. Exodus 13:21-22
The Lord protected His people with the Light. He is still protecting us today. Even when we are walking in darkness always remember that the Light is not far from us. All we have to do is know where to find it.
There is so much hurt everywhere. Cancer, sickness, loneliness, financial problems, divorce, addictions, broken relationships, and on and on it goes. I have several dear friends who are suffering with cancer as I type these words. I look to the Lord for my strength. I pray continually for these people. In my prayers I ask God to also give each of these hurting people and their hurting families His supernatural strength to face what they have to face every day.
The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. Exodus 14:14.
This is a promise for each of us. Have faith and turn to His wonderful Word. Read verses that describe how wonderful His love is for each of us. If you allow Him to, He will fill you with hope and peace, even in the middle of whatever trials you may be walking through. You don’t have to stay in the darkness. It’s a choice. A choice for you to make every day – sometimes every hour. I promise if you turn your attention to Jesus and read His wonderful story, you will feel as if the weight that is pressing you down has been lifted.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
God is light, in him there is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5
Pray this prayer with me.
Dear God, Today I bring you my burden which is heavy. I lay it at your feet. Please be with all the hurting people in my life. Heal hearts and bodies and let each of them see Your goodness and mercy in their lives. You are still performing miracles today as you did 2000 years ago. Let them each see a miracle. Please give them Your strength and hope so that they can see the Light. Please also continue to give me and others the desire to pray for them. Even if we don’t know exactly what to pray, we know that Your Spirit will intercede for us and bring the necessary prayers to You. Please keep each of us in the Light that is your Son Jesus Christ. In His name we pray, Amen.
