They say you can’t take anything with you when you leave this world.
That’s not entirely true. Yes, you may not be able to take material possessions or money with you when you leave but you can take the greatest thing of all – what you gave away.
Think about that for a second. All you can take with you is what you gave away. When I stand before my Lord Jesus Christ, I want to hear the words “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” How can I hear those words? That depends on what I am willing to give away. I’d like to think that I’d give every single thing I have away if God so instructed me. I strive to be that obedient.
I refuse to allow possessions to define my existence.
When I am gone, I don’t want my children to look at things or money that I left for them and remember me. I want them to look into their hearts and remember me. I want them to know how much of my life I spent on my knees praying to God for all of their needs. I want them to have that same desire to be on their knees for their children. I want them to remember God’s Word.
In this life, we each have decisions to make.
These decisions determine what we take with us or what we leave behind. If we live a life full of sorrow and grief, when we leave we take joy and peace from our loved ones. When we cause turmoil and strife in our own life and the lives of those closest to us, we take away contentment and rest. Do you see what I’m saying?
We need to strive to live the life we’re called to live in Christ Jesus. When we live that life, we leave behind peace and joy and contentment and rest. When we make sure that there is no unforgiveness and bitterness in our hearts towards anyone, we leave behind wholeness.
Strive to live a life full of giving.
Giving brings so much joy. It’s unexplainable and just something you have to experience for yourself. Give your money. Give your time. Give your food. Give your possessions. Give your love. Give your trust. Give your forgiveness. Give your heart. Give your all.
Live life to the fullest.
After all, it’s not what you leave behind but it’s what you give away that matters.
Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
Stay in the Light and the Love Always,
