Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ
9 And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. 10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. 11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.
Romans 5:9-11 (NLT)
We are reconciled to God the Father through Jesus Christ. Because of what Jesus did on the cross, we now have permission and liberty to approach the Father directly. We have liberty and freedom to be FRIENDS with the Father. There is no longer a need for a priest to make a sacrifice for us to COVER our sin because our Chief Priest, Jesus Christ, became the sacrifice for us to REMOVE our sin. Do you see the difference? What man was (and is) incapable of doing for himself, Jesus did for him. Man could only provide a cover for sin. Jesus washed sin away.
The old Adam has died to make way for the new Adam.
Let me explain. The first man born of flesh – Adam – introduced sin into the world. We were in a state of sin for thousands of years until the new Man born of flesh – Christ (new Adam) – was born to remove sin. So the first Adam was a pattern, or a shadow, of the new Adam who is Jesus.
Because of God’s justice, it is now as if we have never sinned. We are placed back before Adam and Eve fell into sin in the garden. So why do we still live in guilt and condemnation at times? While we do not have sin any longer, we still do live in a very broken world. There is a very real enemy in this world and his name is Satan. He and his minions have a mission to do one thing – stop us from spreading the Good News about Jesus Christ.
Satan accomplishes his task when he gets in our heads and jumbles up our thinking.
When we allow thoughts to take root that are not of God, we are giving the enemy a foothold in our lives. He cannot steal us away from God once we are saved but he can distract us from being who Jesus wants us to be. We are ambassadors on earth to spread peace and goodwill to all who are in darkness.
I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God’s ambassador. So pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for him, as I should.
Look at this verse closely. Even if we are bound physically, we should still be preaching the message of Jesus boldly to all who will listen. Our job is to share through our words, our actions, our living and our love. God’s job is to open hearts and ears to receive.
And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb
and by their testimony.
And they did not love their lives so much
that they were afraid to die.
It is by the blood of Jesus Christ and the words of OUR MOUTHS that we defeat the enemy.
People are hungry. They are searching and nothing, nothing, nothing will satisfy that deep need within but Jesus. We seek other people to be accepted and possessions to feel like we belong. These things won’t fill that need. Sex, drugs, alcohol, shopping, and all kinds of other addictions control people’s lives daily. But these things won’t fix it either.
There is only one thing that will fill that Jesus-sized hole in our hearts and that is Jesus Himself. Stop doubting that you’re able to speak about Jesus to others. Doubt and condemnation are from the enemy. Boldness and confidence are from Christ.
God is our friend.
Rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God today. Soak in His presence and let Him love you..
11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.
