Rest. What does this word mean to you? To me it means slowing down, breathing, enjoying God’s creation and enjoying God. There are times in life when we desperately need rest. After the death of a loved one. After the loss of a job. After the loss of of a marriage. During an illness. After the children grow up and leave home. In this world, there are lots of events that can just deplete us. This is when we are in grave danger. Danger of being vulnerable to untruths. Danger of becoming self-focused instead of Jesus-focused. Danger. But there is hope. There is always hope.
And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Romans 5:5
Hope is such a pretty word. It is beautiful. It restores our hearts. It restores our souls. It brings light into darkness. Jesus is hope and He does not disappoint us. I love this verse – He pours His love into our hearts. When we rest and seek Him, He restores us and fills us with all that we need – hope, love, light, rest, peace, grace, joy, unity, life.
If you haven’t already done so, invite Jesus into your heart and life. Let Him do all the work for you. We just need to rest. We can do nothing in our own strength. We need Him in all we do and we need to give Him glory in all we do. When you’re tired, seek Him and you will find Him. And you’ll find so much more. You’ll find hope, love, light, rest, peace, grace, joy, unity, life. Wonderful life.
Thank you for allowing us to approach You boldly and confidently. I pray for restoration in all areas of our lives. You know our needs – physical, financial, and spiritual. Fill the gaps and brokenness as we step back and rest. Help us to be still and let you be God. In Your Son Jesus Christ’s holy name we pray.
Stay in the Light and the Love always,
