Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
“But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’ For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what make a man ‘unclean’; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him ‘unclean.'”
Thank you for today. Help each of us realize the importance of protecting our hearts. You tell us that we are to protect our hearts because it is the wellspring of life. Create in us pure hearts, O God, and renew steadfast spirits within us. Let us realize also that You and You alone judge our hearts. We are not to judge anyone else’s heart and we are not to accept that judgment on our own hearts from man. As we are in Your Presence, reveal those things to us that need to be cleansed and released from our hearts.
Help us to purge the hurts, the insecurities, the bitterness, the scars that are left in our hearts from the past. Perform open-heart surgery on each of us and restore our hearts. Line our hearts up with Your heart. For we know that You desire for us to have a heart that is after Your own heart. Let us each commit to spending the rest of our lives seeking the goodness of Your heart and sharing that goodness with others.
We are so very thankful for all that we have in Your Son Jesus Christ. It is in His holy and lovely name that we pray.
