In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs. Hebrews 1:1-4
We have the honor of being taught by Jesus Christ Himself in these last days. There is so much packed in these 4 verses. Jesus is God’s Glory! Anytime we see God manifested in a physical presence in the Scriptures, it is Jesus Christ – in the Old Testament and the New Testament. We’re told in John 1:18 that no one has ever seen God but Jesus. So this tells us that no one has ever seen the Father. We need to understand that there is power in the name of Jesus as the writer tells us in the verses above. He is as much superior to the angels as the name he inherited is superior to theirs.
Jesus is the face of God to us. He is the Word of God for us. His name has power. In Matthew 28:18 Jesus Himself tells us that He has been given ALL authority in heaven and on earth and He was giving this power and authority to us as His disciples. Jesus tells us over and over to use His name in our prayers (John 14:14, John 16:24, Luke 10:19, Matthew 8:20, Mark 16:17). Search out these Scriptures as well and see over and over again how powerful the name of Jesus truly is for us. James 5:14, Hebrews 13:15, Ephesians 1:17-21, Philippians 2:9-10, Colossians 3:17.
