11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.” Jeremiah 29:11-14
Do you feel as if you’ve been on the outside looking in? And you just can’t seem to get in no matter how hard you try? I’ve been there and I understand what you are going through. I tried and tried so hard to pray “the right way” and to seek God “the right way” and I could never feel His presence like others said they had. One day I learned the key I had been searching for. I was “trying” too hard. God doesn’t want us to work hard to enter His presence. He truly wants us to rest in Him and allow Him to do all the work for us. In prayer, simply rest in quietness with a mind stayed on His glory, His goodness, His BIGNESS, His magnificence. As you praise and worship Him, He will open that door for you. It must be sincere praise and worship. You can’t just go through the motions. He knows your heart. He knows your heart better than you know your heart. You can’t fool Him. If there are things that are not quite right in your heart, ask Him to show them to you. And when He does, repent and be healed.
In verse 13 above, you’ll find the key. When you seek Him with all of your heart, you will find Him. Seeking HIM is the key. Not seeking what He can do for you. Just seeking HIM and wanting nothing more than to be in His presence. He has big plans for you and me. We need to start seeking Him in quiet times. We need to make time with Him a priority in our lives. It will make all the difference in the world for us. God doesn’t want us to live in that exiled place. He wants to bring us into the promised land. It is not Him holding us back. It is us. And it is sad that we forfeit so much of the goodness He wants to give us. Seek Him today. When you do, don’t ever stop seeking Him. He’s waiting for you.
