I hate the word “baggage” and what it has come to represent. We all have things we struggle with in this life. No one is immune. Not one single person. Some struggles are life or death. Some are not. But everyone has struggles. Black or white. Male or female. Young or old. Broken relationships. Illness. Cancer. Financial worries. Teenagers. Divorce. Unemployment. Loneliness. Sadness. Fear. Phobias.
The key to handling our baggage successfully is whether we try to handle things in our own strength or if we pass it all off to Jesus for Him to handle in His supernatural strength. When we try to handle things in our own strength, we will wear down and be torn apart. The baggage becomes very real as we drag it around with us day after day. Hour after hour. Minute after minute. The baggage becomes a physical ball and chain. But there is hope. We don’t have to continue to carry that baggage any further. Do you know who holds the key to that ball and chain? What if I told you that you hold that key? You have the power to release that ball and chain from your life. The key is found in the power of Jesus Christ.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Let these words sink deep into your heart. We don’t have to carry a heavy burden. Jesus wants to swap with us. His burden is light. And how incredibly easy it is to take His yoke. One simple step – BELIEVE. We simply have to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Here is The Gospel. The key to everlasting life. The key to handing over all of our burdens to Jesus Christ.
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
I’ll leave you with a few more words to ponder and meditate on. Let these words sink deep in your heart as well. Pull them out when you feel overwhelmed. These words will assure you that all is well. These words will silence the panic in your heart. These words will take the fear, the sadness, the loneliness, the brokenness. These words will unlock that lock holding the ball and chain to your life. His Grace is Sufficient!
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Stay in the Light and the Love Always,
