What does living well mean to you? I’m sure if we ask ten people this question, we would get ten completely different answers.
What does living well mean to me? To me, if I am living well, I am living in the light and love of Jesus Christ.
In all honesty, there was a time in my life when my answer would have been very different. It would have been based on people and things. Tangibles. Things I could reach out and touch. It would not have been based on a God that we cannot see. A God that we must have faith to believe even exists.
But oh how grateful I am now to know this God. Even though I cannot see Him, He is very real and very near. My God is good. My God is love. My God is light. In Him there is no darkness. In Him there is only truth. And in Him is all of us! We are in Him and He is in us. It is an amazing thing to marvel over. Meditate on the wonder that is Jesus Christ. He wasn’t content to just save us for eternity. He wasn’t content to just send us the Holy Spirit to dwell within us. No, Our God, Jesus Christ, loves us so very much that He wanted us close to Him. As close as we could possibly be. He is the Living Cornerstone. We are living stones in His temple. We need to fully grasp our position in this great big universe. We belong in the temple that is Jesus Christ. The Living Temple.
You are coming to Christ, who is a living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God for great honor.
And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God. As the Scripture says,“I am placing a cornerstone in Jerusalem, chosen for great honor, and anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”
Yes, you who trust him recognize the honor God has given him. But for those who reject him, “The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.”
And, “He is the stone that makes people stumble, the rock that makes them fall.”
They stumble because they do not obey God’s word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them.
But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
1 Peter 2:4-9
Do you see the beautiful proclamation in these words? We are His possession. A “possession” belongs to someone. We belong to Jesus Christ. And because we belong to Him, we are called to a greater purpose. We are all called to be royal priests. We are all called to proclaim His name. We all need to step up and proclaim His name. When we do, He will put the words in our mouth. There is no need to fear that we don’t know the right thing to say. The God of the Universe, the God of Abraham, Moses, and Jacob will put His words into our mouth. All He needs us to do is step up and obey.
My prayer today for all of the dear friends who are reading these words is that You make these words “an experience” for them. Make these words a reality. Help each of us to fully be aware of our place in the Body of Christ. Empower each of us to put on our priestly robes and proclaim His name!
For it is in His name that we pray.
Stay in the Light and the Love always,
